How Our Random Bible Verse Generator Works

How Our Random Bible Verse Generator Works: free Bible verse tool from Daily Random Verse

Last updated: October 2026

This page explains exactly how the random Bible verse generator on dailyrandomverse.com works, so you can judge it for yourself.

Every verse has the same chance

The generator draws from the full Bible: 31,102 verses in the King James Version and the World English Bible. Each verse has an equal chance of being picked. We do not use a short list of favorites, which is why you will sometimes get a genealogy or a law instead of a famous promise. Topic pages are different on purpose: they draw only from a hand-checked list of verses for that topic.

How the pick is made

When you press the button, your browser picks a random book weighted by its number of verses, then a chapter and a verse from that book. Nothing is sent to a server and nothing about your pick is stored by us. The verse of the day is chosen by date, so everyone sees the same verse on the same day.

Where the text comes from

We use only public-domain texts: the King James Version, the World English Bible, and the Reina-Valera 1909 for Spanish. Popular modern translations such as the NIV and ESV are copyrighted, so we do not show them. See our guide to public-domain Bible translations for the details.

How the written content is checked

The short notes beside topic verses are written to explain context in plain words, then checked against the verse text. Content is written by Shahzaib Malik and reviewed by Tod Bolsinger. If you find a mistake, please tell us and we will fix it.

A note on using random verses

A random verse is a prompt to read and think, not a prediction or a way to make decisions. Read the verse in its chapter, and speak to a pastor or a qualified professional about serious personal matters.
