Draw a random Bible verse about peace, with a short note on where it comes from and what it means.
Peace in the Bible is more than quiet
The Hebrew word shalom covers wholeness, safety and good relationships, not only the absence of noise or conflict. When a biblical writer wishes someone peace, the wish includes health, security and right standing with others and with God. That is why peace appears both in personal prayers and in the prophets' pictures of a restored world.
Three kinds of peace you will meet
Some verses describe inner peace, a settled mind that trusts God even when circumstances are tense. Others describe peace between people, urging believers to pursue reconciliation and avoid retaliation. The prophets also describe peace between nations, with weapons turned into farm tools. The New Testament adds peace with God, which Paul links to the work of Jesus.
